Husband tries, fails to save wife from being killed by train in Delray Beach

UPDATE:  Boca Raton police say that husband of a woman killed by a train Wednesday has been found dead in his home.

Police say the death of William Landes appears to be natural however they are awaiting word from the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office before making a final determination.

EARLIER:

(AP and WPTV)  Police in Delray Beach say a husband failed in his frantic attempt to pull his wife off railroad tracks after she tripped, and she was killed by an oncoming train.

Delray Beach police said that the Boca Raton couple was walking home after eating dinner at Johnny Browns, on the east side of the Florida East Coast Railways tracks, Wednesday night when they attempted to cross the tracks north of Atlantic Avenue.

The 62-year-old woman, identified as Robin Brelsford Landes, tripped as the southbound train approached.

Witnesses told police they saw her 58-year-old husband William Francis Landes trying desperately to pull her off the tracks but he couldn't do it before the train hit her.
