Police in Boca Raton are investigating a recent case of graffiti.

According to police records, officers responded to the Gables Town Place apartment complex to a report of vandalism Friday evening.

Officers saw the Star of David, a swastika, a heart and other unknown symbols painted on a wall separating the apartment complex from a neighboring development.

The Star of David is a Jewish symbol. The swastika was used by the German Nazi party and is considered an anti-Semitic symbol.

The Jewish New Year holiday, Rosh Hashanah, started Sunday and ends tonight at sunset.

No one has been arrested for the vandalism.

Story updated to clarify that at this time police are not investigating this as a hate crime.
