Fire damages church in Okeechobee County

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. -- A fire nearly destroyed a church in Okeechobee County early Saturday morning.

The Missionary Church of God sustained significant damage to the inside and rear of the building.

Despite the fire, members say the church's strong spirit continues on.

"Earlier I was speaking to my Dad and the reverend-- they're pretty upset right now. I don't think this is going to stop them, this is just a little struggle but we'll keep going. They're strong," said church member Benjamin Esquivel.

The state Fire Marshall is investigating.
