A rehabilitated sea turtle is back where it belongs.

The turtle named Cici was found stranded at Coral Cove Park in Tequesta in November.

It was suffering from complications related to a build-up of air inside its body. It left the turtle unable to dive below the surface.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center stepped in, along with doctors from Jupiter Medical, and used CT scans to detect the pockets of gas and nurse the turtle back to health.

Wednesday morning, Cici was released into the water in Juno Beach where hundreds of people came to watch.

“Cici was probably happy to stay here with a free meal, but now back on his own out there and there's no reason to believe he won’t return to life normally in the wild,” said Dr Charles Manire with the Loggerhead Marinelfe Center.

This was the first public turtle release of the year for the center. Last year the center released 45 sea turtles into the wild.
