PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla-- Never losing hope and determined to find a killer.

That's the message from the loved ones of Rachel Hurley.
The 14 year-old was raped and murdered more than 2 decades ago in Carlin Park in Jupiter.

Thursday, on the anniversary of her murder her friends speak out about the latest push to track down her killer.

"Every single day I think of it," said Erin Lodeesen, a friend who was with Rachel that fateful day.

Her memories are still so vivid. The day 14 year-old Rachel Hurley vanished, March 17, 1990.
"It was as if our nightmares came true in this way that horror stories were presented to us back then," said Lodeesen.

Rachel had been boating with friends near Dubois Park.
She was supposed to meet her mom at Carlin Park but never showed up.
Later that day, the teen's body was found in the wooded area nearby.
She had been raped and then strangled.

"She never got to go to her prom. She never got to go to college. She never got to have kids or get married," said Det. William Springer, a cold case investigator with the PBSO.

After 26 years, the murder is still a mystery.
"Whoever did this has gone on with their life for 26 years, and that really ticks me off," said Springer.

Detectives say they have physical evidence and get around 5 tips a year.
But so far nothing substantial.

"Something will spark up a whole new lead. It's just getting people to talk about it," said Sheri Duff, another one of Rachel's childhood friends.

Duff, even taking to social media now.
She started a "Justice for Rachel Hurley" page on Facebook, hoping someone will come forward with a tip that may break the case.

"We want people to go in there talk about what they saw that day."

CrimeStoppers has also increased the reward in this case to 15 thousand dollars.
