A Stuart music teacher has been accused of inappropriately touching one of his students and giving her alcohol, according to police.

Detectives say that they began investigating Daniel Bruce Sharp, 64, of Stuart in May.

That’s when the alleged 15-year-old victim came forward and made a complaint.

Police say Sharp had been giving guitar lessons to the student for two years at 1608 S. Kanner Highway.

He’s been a teacher there since 1994, according to police.

Sharp turned himself in Friday.

Police have charged him with a lewd and lascivious act with a victim under 16 years of age, showing harmful material to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His bond was set at $90,000.

Anyone with information is urged to call Stuart Detective Nick Briglia at 772-220-3943.
