The West Palm Beach Police Department said one person was killed and another was hurt after a double shooting Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred at about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of 3rd St.

Police said one victim was taken to the hospital with injuries, and the other person was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Willie Garvin, 46.

"It's heartbreaking," says Ricky Aiken with Inner City Innovators.

Aiken has tried very hard to prevent this kind of violence from happening, particularly in this neighborhood.

On Thursday, he said he plans to continue his work.

"I'll definitely be exploring what we as a movement can do and see what options we have as a community to put an end to this," says Aiken.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call West Palm Beach Detective Paul Creelman at 561-822-1676 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800.458.TIPS.
