WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A robbery victim was killed early Saturday in West Palm Beach.
Police received a 911 call regarding a robbery and a shooting at 5540 North Haverhill Road at Royal Poinciana Apartments just before 1 a.m.
Responding officers located the male victim, identified as 18-year-old Lyonel Jean-Pierre, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is open and ongoing.
Saturday, tenants at the apartment complex received an alert notice warning them of the incident.
The notice also urges residents to take safety precautions such as locking cars and reporting suspicious activity.
"Just being secure, being protective. Making sure we're not out all the time because if it's happening around 12-1 maybe we should just stay inside," says Angel Maldonado, a resident at the complex.
