West Palm Beach police say a man called the Palm Beach Zoo on Monday and threatened to harm the tiger involved in the fatal attack on zookeeper Stacey Konwiser.
At 2:30 p.m., an officer responded to the zoo's main office and spoke with the receptionist who reported receiving a phone call from an unknown man making threats against one of the zoo tigers in retaliation for Konwiser's death.
The receptionist said the man had a strong southern accent and asked if the tiger had been euthanized yet. The receptionist said she was not comfortable discussing the tiger and the suspect stated, "You better watch your zoo, we will handle it ourselves. I'm from West Palm Beach." When the receptionist said, "Excuse me?", the man hung up. She described his voice as sounding as if he was 40-50 years of age.
According to the zoo, the phone service provider would be contacted in an effort to reveal the phone number of the private caller.
