Deputies swarmed an area of Lake Worth overnight after witnesses said they were searching for two men connected to a stolen car.

Around 2 a.m., about two dozen deputies were at the corner of U.S. 1 and 6th Avenue.  Most of the activity was centered around a Checkers restaurant.

K9s with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, detectives and a helicopter were canvassing the area.

Officials put crime tape around a silver car in the Checkers drive thru and later towed it from the scene.

PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the car was stolen in Delray Beach, but says no arrests have been made and they are looking for the suspects.

A store clerk from across the street said he heard a loud bang, which led him to believe that the driver of the car hit something.

When he came out to look, the clerk said he saw someone take off running.

"A man was going through the drive thru and a deputy was right behind him. I noticed the door open and all I saw was people running everywhere. A guy got out of the car, and he started running in that direction," said witness Alsides Benitez.

PBSO hopes that items found inside the silver car will identify the people who stole the vehicle.
