A Delta Air Lines ramp agent arrested Saturday with thousands in cash at Palm Beach International Airport will remain in jail.

At a Thursday morning hearing, Jean Selius, 26, of Boynton Beach, made an appearance in federal court and waived his right to a detention hearing.

Federal prosecutors are concerned he might be a flight risk because he is in the U.S. on a green card but not an American citizen.

According to federal prosecutors, Selius said he was getting paid up to $1,000 to transport a cash-filled backpack to someone inside an airport bathroom.

Agents said he used his airport identification to bypass security check points, saying he had large packets of cash wrapped in clear vacuum-sealed bundles.

Selius’ lawyer said his client is not a key player in this crime.

“I think as this materializes, and as we have the ability to kind of decipher what role he played, that his role will be shown to be a minor role,” said defense attorney Scott Skier.

Skier said Selius does not have a criminal history.

The next court date is scheduled for April 11.
