(NBC NEWSCHANNEL) Toyota says it'll recall more than one and a half million additional vehicles in the U.S. for front passenger side Takata air bags that could rupture.
Toyota says the new recall includes some but not all Corolla, Matrix, Yaris, 4-Runner, Sienna, Scion X-B, Lexus E-S, G-X And I-S vehicles built between 2006 and 2011.
The automaker says it's now recalled 4.73 million vehicles in the U.S. for Takata air bags.
Earlier this month, Takata said it was declaring another 35 million to 40 million U.S. inflators defective-- more than doubling the number of inflators recalled.
Faulty Takata air bags have been linked to more than 100 injuries and 13 deaths worldwide.
