Unmaned aircraft now being tested in Florida Keys; Drones help collect data on wildlife

Federal officials have been testing drones to help monitor environmental conditions and wildlife. Now that testing just expanded to include the Florida Keys National Marine sanctuary.

During the test, a drone collected information about the number of vessels in one area, video of damage left by boat propellers, images of birds, and a blue pipe that appeared to be an illegal way to harvest lobster.

Now the drones will be tested on Big Pine Key to survey endangered Key deer.
