Tropical Storm Chantal may become a depression or wave in the next 24 hours

At 5 p.m. the National Hurricane Center downgraded Chantal to an open tropical wave after hurricane hunters failed to find a closed circulation. There are  still some 45 mph wind gusts in some of the storms around the wave.

All tropical storm watches and warnings have been discontinued.  The NHC will no longer issue advisories or tracks on the remnants of Chantal.

The remnants will be in the Florida Straits Thursday night, then up into the area on Friday.

This will still spread heavy rains into South Florida Friday and Saturday.  Rainfall totals will be in the range of 2-4" with locally higher amounts possible.

Our forecast will remain unchanged for now, with increased chances for showers and thunderstorms Friday through Sunday.

We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
