Cooler temperatures in Florida mean manatees are on the move trying to stay warm

(WBBH) Cooler weather means more opportunities to spot some of Southwest Florida's most famous residents.

More manatees have been spotted in the recent weeks and even more may be moving inland to escape the cooler gulf waters.

As the water temps continue to drop, the manatee sightings go up.

Friday's chilly weather didn't stop visitors from catching a glimpse of the gentle giants.

Dozens lined the gates at Manatee Park in Fort Myers Shores.

"[I] wish we could get closer because they're so cute," said Camille Hopkins, who is visiting from Minnesota.
