BRADENTON, Fla. - A man is dead after Bradenton Police say he was targeted and fatally shot at the Manatee Y, also known as the Dream Center.
Bradenton Police say around 8:00 Thursday night, multiple gunmen walked up to the practice fields at the Dream Center where the Manatee Mustangs pop warner football team were having their first practice of the season. That field is located in the 1000 block of 24th Street East in Bradenton.
They went straight for Brenton Coleman, Sr., 40, and he tried to run.
Police say a short chase ensued, but Coleman was on the ground quickly, shot multiple times by one of the gunmen, whose faces were covered.
At this time it's unclear if Coleman was a coach of the team or just watching the practice.
Also unclear, a motive in the shooting.
Bradenton police say they think someone knows something that may be able to help them find out who the shooter was. They are asking the public to help them in anyway they can. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Bradenton Police Department at (941) 932-9300.
