Port St. Lucie Police say Evelyn McSweeney used her 6 year old son to shoplift at Wal-Mart.
PORT ST LUCIE, Fla. - The boy tried to put the toy on the conveyer belt but police say the mother tried to pull a fast one on workers and stuff the toy into her bags of groceries.
"She took a Lego set from inside her shopping cart, gave it to her six year old son," said Frank Sabol, Master Sgt. for the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
"It's very unfortunate and sad to see he was trying to do that as he is conditioned to do and the mother stops him," said Sabol.
Security footage from the Walmart on South US Highway 1 in Port St. Lucie caught the whole thing on tape.
Evelyn Ann McSweeney was arrested shortly after leaving the store. But police say this isn't the first time she made a child do her dirty work. She was arrested at the same Walmart in June.
"She took a bunch of items and put them in Walmart bags and gave it to her fourteen year old daughter," said Sabol.
McSweeney is banned from shopping at the Walmart again. She is currently being held at the Port St. Lucie jail on delinquency of a minor and retail theft charges.
