Small plane makes emergency landing on U.S. 27 near Weston

No one was hurt

WESTON, Fla. - A small plane made an emergency landing on in the northbound lanes of U. S. 27  at mile marker 39 in Weston, approximately 6 miles north of I-75 on Tuesday night, according to Broward Sheriff's Office.

An instructor and a student pilot took off from Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport and were conducting training exercises, according to Florida Highway Patrol. 

Stuart Hanley, 54 of Hollywood, Florida and Ronald Russell, 67 of Auburn, Maine were on board of the 1959 Beechcraft 18 owned by Aztec Airways, but were not injured, according to authorities.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident and a determination will be made on Wednesday morning regarding the removal of the plane.
