Man dies after overnight shooting in Pahokee
A gunman fired several shots at a pair of police officers, hitting one, and held two hostages for nearly nine hours - but all came away from the standoff without serious injuries.
PAHOKEE, Fla. - One man is dead after a fatal shooting in Pahokee, according to Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened Friday night, just before midnight, in the 300 block of Booker Place and Rardin Avenue, says Barbera.
While patrolling in the area, deputies heard what appeared to be gun shots and witnessed people running in different locations.
After arriving at the intersection, deputies found one man suffering from a gunshot wound, confirms Barbera.
The victim was flown by Trauma Hawk to St Mary's Medical Center in critical condition, says Captain Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The man died shortly after arriving at the hospital, says Barbera.
There is no suspect information at this time.
