Newspaper stand robbery in Port St. Lucie, woman was pushed down

PORT ST. LUCIE — The Port St. Lucie police are asking for help from anyone with information about an unarmed robbery Tuesday morning in which an assailant pushed down a woman and took her money, police stated Wednesday.

The incident happened between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday as the 52-year-old woman was at a newspaper stand at Southeast Floresta Drive and Southeast Crosstown Parkway, police stated.

The woman, who was alone, was pushed down and sustained cuts and bruises, according to Master Sgt. Frank Sabol, police spokesman. She was attacked from behind, and the assailant took an undisclosed amount of money.

The assailant may have what was described as a Haitian accent.

Police do not know how the assailant got there or left.
