Heart attack led to crash in Port St. Lucie daycare parking lot at the Children's Gardens Academy

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Port St. Lucie police responded to a fatal crash that occurred in a daycare parking lot Monday morning.

Officers say that around 10 am today there was a multi-vehicle crash at the Children's Gardens Academy at 2602 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd.

Police scene say that a 65-year-old man was driving a 2002 Dodge Van west on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard. 

The man suffered a heart attack, according to the PSL PD, which caused him to veer off the road into the daycare parking lot. 

The Dodge van, according to investigators, struck three cars in the parking lot, before coming to a final stop.

Police say there were no other injuries and no children were reported to have been in the parking lot at the time of the crash. 

The 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at St. Lucie Hospital a short time later, according to investigators.

This crash was a result of a severe medical condition and no further action will be taken by the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
