Fire damages Port St. Lucie McDonald's: Restaurant sustains water, smoke damage

PORT ST. LUCIE — A McDonald's on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard sustained extensive water and smoke damage Tuesday after a fire in the fryer area, according to a St. Lucie County Fire District spokeswoman.

Power to the fast food eatery in the 1000 block of Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard also was cut off following the incident, which was reported just before 10 a.m., Fire District spokeswoman Catherine Chaney said.

Chaney said smoke reportedly was coming from the drive-through area and light smoke was coming from the roof. She said Florida Power & Light Co. officials were called to shut power off to the building.

Fire crews cut through the structure's roof to determine whether fire extended into the roof, she said.

Chaney said everyone was out of the restaurant before Fire District crews arrived.
