Hubert Earl Singley accused of burglarizing cars while people pump gas

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - A Port St. Lucie man was arrested for burglarizing a dozen cars at gas stations, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
Hubert Earl Singley, 34, was arrested on his birthday after stealing purses and other items from cars at gas stations in Fort Pierce and unincorporated St. Lucie County, according to the sheriff's office.
The thefts took place at gas stations on U.S.1 and Okeechobee Road, 6601 South U.S.1 and 5870
Okeechobee Road, and other gas stations on U.S.1, according to authorities.
Singley would wait for a driver to start pumping gas, then open unlocked passenger side doors, and steal purses and other items sitting on the front seat, according to investigators.
Singley, faces 12 counts of burglarizing unoccupied vehicles, four counts of grand theft and eight counts of misdemeanor theft.
He is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail on a $57,750 bond.
St. Lucie County Sheriff's detectives worked together with Fort Pierce police detectives to arrest Singley.
