Jessie Plowden, Greta Moran: Fort Pierce police investigate shooting deaths of two people

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Fort Pierce police are investigating the shooting deaths of two people.

Officers were called to the 500 block of North 31st Street just before 1:30 a.m.

When they arrived they found two people with gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as Jessie Plowden, 27 and Greta Moran, 34.

Police say it appears they were shot outside a home and ran inside after the gunfire.

Plowden died at the scene. Police say Moran was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Neighbors and family members approached for a comment refused to speak. Some of them said they fear for their own safety because gunshots ring out far too often on their block.

Anyone with information should call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS (8477).  Tipsters can also text a tip to Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers by texting "tip 151" and the information to 274637.

Police say you can remain anonymous and still be eligible for up to a $1,000.00 reward.

The killings are the third and fourth homicides in the Fort Pierce city limits this year.

There have been other shootings in the Fort Pierce area, but outside the city limits, including the Saturday killing of a 17-year-old boy fatally shot just outside western Fort Pierce.

Davontae Dukes was gunned down while riding a bicycle and the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office charged a north St. Lucie County resident, Demetrius Osborne, 15, with premeditated first-degree murder in the case.
