Delray Beach shooting: Man dies at Delray Medical Center

Incident is unrelated to earlier shooting

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Two men were killed in separate shootings in Delray Beach on Saturday.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a gunshot heard in the 1000 block of Bauhinia Drive, says officer Jeffrey Messer, spokesman for the Delray Beach Police Department.

Messer says police could not find an injured victim upon their arrival.

Shortly after, staff at Delray Medical Center notified Delray Beach Police that a man with a gunshot wound was brought to the hospital, confirms Messer.

Despite medical treatment, the victim's condition continued to worsen, and he died early Sunday morning, says Messer.

The Delray Beach Police Police Department will release the victim's identity once all family members are notified.

Around 5 p.m., another man identified as 32-year-old Patrick Balam, from Delray Beach was shot at Pompey Park,  according to Messer. Balam died from his injuries at Delray Medical Center a short time later, he said.

Delray Beach Police said the two shootings were not related.
