Drew Blazure arrested on DUI manslaughter charges following August fatality in Boca Raton

COPS: Alcohol level almost 3 times limit

Drew Blazure has been arrested and charged with the hit and run death of Tim Van Orden last August on Federal Highway in Boca Raton.

Police say that just before 3 a.m. on August 24 they received a call about a possible fatal accident.

Investigators say that Blazure was traveling south on North Federal Highway in the 6700 block when he hit the back of a bicycle driven by Van Orden.

Police say that after the accident they found Blazure in a parking lot at 5101 North Federal Highway.

Van Orden, according to police, died at the scene.

Blazure, according to his arrest report, made no effort to stop and help the person he was suspected of striking.

Police say that they took blood from Blazure three hours after the accident and his blood alcohol level was .210%

The legal blood alcohol level in Florida is .08%.

Blazure, according to police, had been drinking earlier in the evening and was reportedly told by a companion not to drive.

Blazure was booked in to the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
