Boca Raton police investigate the case of a woman stuffed into a duffel bag

She was trying to sneak into a sober halfway house

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Date night in Boca Raton took an unusual twist last Friday night.

Boca Raton police say that around 5:20 p.m. they received a call from a man walking his dog along SW 2nd Avenue.

The man, according to police, says that there was a suspicious incident in the Walgreens parking lot.

The witness says that he saw a large man hunched over a large duffel bag.

The witness told police that the man began speaking to the duffel bag and then started to put it inside a Volkswagen when a woman's arm poked out of the bag.

Investigators say that the man then pushed the arm back into the bag before putting it in the rear passenger compartment and driving away.

Around 10:30 p.m. police found the suspicious vehicle and eventually the driver.

He told police that he was staying at the Boca House, a sober living halfway house for men, and they did not allow visitors to stay overnight.

Police say the man put his girlfriend in a large hockey equipment bag so he could take her into his apartment.

The girlfriend told police that she voluntarily got into the bag.

Police concluded that no laws were broken and the man and his girlfriend were allowed to leave.
