WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The older two girls of three daughters left orphaned after the deaths of their parents will become the guardian of the youngest child.
Lawyers for the Lindsey family have confirmed to NewsChannel 5 that Sarah and Sofia Lindsey were appointed the guardian of Savannah by a Palm Beach County judge.
Sarah, 20, Sofia, 18, and Savannah, 16, are dealing with the murder of their mother Kimberly and the overdose death of their father Albert Lambert.
Kimberly's body was found in a cane field in Hendry County. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said her ex-husband was the top suspect in her murder before he died from an overdose.
A divorce between Lindsey and Lambert had been final since February. Yet just two days before investigators said Lindsey was killed, she and her ex-husband had a tense exchange during a court appearance.
contentious words occurred during an evidentiary meeting regarding late child support payments.
Crime scene investigators said a a violent confrontation happened at the Palm Beach Gardens home where Kimberly Lindsey lived after which her body was removed and taken to the remote area where it was discovered.
A probable cause affidavit reveals Lambert bought a .22 caliber gun recently, and tests showed that Kimberly Lindsey was shot with the same size gun.
Sunday Lambert's sister and her husband were seen carrying Albert's body out the front door in a sheet. "We think the case is closed as far as who committed the crime," Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said.
Part of the reason law enforcement waited until Sunday to try and arrest Lambert is because they were trying to build up their case to ensure he would not be given a bond.
A memorial service for Kimberly Lindsey is planned for Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Christ Fellowship South Campus on Northlake.
A trust fund has been set up for Lindsey's three daughters.
