Suspect in Lake Park deadly shooting denied bond
LAKE PARK, Fla. - An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning in Lake Park.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrested Cordero Royes and charged him with the death of Jamel Cherilan.
Deputies say that around 12:36 a.m. Tuesday they were called to the Park Avenue Pub at 940 Park Avenue.
Investigators say that based on sworn witnesses statements and video, Cherilan became involved in an altercation with a man who drew a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.
Deputies say they were able to identify Royes as the shooting suspect.
Royes was arrested at his mother's house in Riviera Beach Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies have charged Royes with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Royes is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail.
