Mary Maloney: Ex-Palm Springs Middle School teacher faces termination following DUI conviction

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach County School Board at its January 8th meeting will consider a recommendation to terminate middle school teacher Mary Maloney.

Maloney, a former 7th grade math teacher at Palm Springs Middle School, was arrested on January 13, 2013 by Greenacres police after a report of a hit-and-run crash at Purdy Lane and Jog Road.

According to police Maloney said to the officer driving her to jail, "How much do I need to pay you to just let me go?

Police say the Lake Worth woman then offered the officer oral sex and invited him to grope her breasts, according to an arrest report.

Maloney, according to documents from the Palm Beach County School Board, was placed into a non-student contact position while charges against her were pending.

On July 22nd Maloney was found guilty of DUI, causing injury, leaving the scene of a crime and resisting arrest without violence.

Felony bribery charges were dropped against Maloney, according to a school board report.

The school board will vote Wednesday on whether to terminate Maloney following a 15 day unpaid suspension.
