Jennifer Sorgie charged with hit and run and DUI

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A Wellington woman has been arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

Deputies say that just before 11 p.m. Thursday night they were called to Summit Blvd and Congress Ave about a possible DUI driver.

Investigators say that they found Jennifer Sorgie sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven with the engine still on.

Deputies say that her Dodge Durango had extensive front end damage and a blown out tire.

Earlier Thursday PBSO Deputies were looking for a Dodge Durango that was suspected of being involved in a hit and run accident in Lake Worth in which a pedestrian was struck.

Sorgie, according to deputies, said she had been drinking at Igotz Bar with a friend and later went to Havana's Restaurant where she drank wine.

The defendant told deputies that she also had taken a prescription drug.

Witnesses told deputies that they saw the Dodge Durango traveling around 60 miles per hour near Congress Ave and 6th Ave South.

The vehicle continued north despite blowing out a tire at Forest Hill Blvd and Congress Ave., according to PBSO

Sorgie was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
