Five fun things to do this weekend; July 12-14

Burger Battle-Not only is the temperature rising, the BBQ grills are getting ready and chefs are creating secret recipes as preparations for the Boca Burger Battle (Sanborn Square Park, 100 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton). More than 20 contenders from all over South Florida will create their grilling masterpieces and present them to a prestige table of Grill Master Judges which includes a few well known "burger connoisseurs" like Sef the Burger Beast, Jamie Frankel from Burgers by the Beach, Stephanie Miskew from the Glamorous Gourmet, and well known celebrity chef Dean Max in hopes of winning the Golden Burger Trophy and hold the title of the Best Boca Burger. The contest not only showcases some of the best beef, turkey, fish, and vegetarian burgers that can be found, but also has an array of summer food tasting stations sampling gourmet French fries, onion rings, tropical salads, chicken wings by Tucci's Fire N Coal Pizza, rum cakes, liquor-infused ice cream and good old apple pie. And of course there will be plenty of delicious samplings to go around for everyone.  $55 per person ;  Saturday 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Food Truck Invasion- Go on safari inside the Palm Beach Zoo(1301 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach) for the first-ever Food Truck Safari. The event will feature live music from Sekond Nature in the Fountain Plaza and Medicine Hat in the Mayan Plaza and reasonably priced beer & wine catered by Potions In Motion!  And yes, the zoo will be open and will have some special, up-close, wild animal encounters. Some of the trucks feature include Crazydilla, Mediterranean Grill, and Dough Dough Donuts. Come hungry and feed your inner animal!!!  $7 for kids, $10 for adults; Saturday 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Dog Wash for Heroes- Adventurous dogs can swim and fetch balls in the water at the Square Grouper beach (1111 Love St, Jupiter) with their owners this weekend for the "Dog Wash for Heroes," event. The Dog Wash for Heroes is the only day of the year dogs are welcome at Square Grouper, which offers a perfect tropical setting and beautiful views of the Intracoastal Waterway and Jupiter Lighthouse. All dogs will be treated to a hand wash and towel dry off by volunteers, and finish with a treat and a handmade bandana of their choice. This event will feature a dog wash, bandana, and a drink coupon for the human, and lots of water bowls for the dogs. Saturday's event will raise funds in support of U.S. military canines and their handlers through Operation Care for Heroes' association with U.S. War Dogs Association. Participants are required to have one dog per handler, sturdy leashes (no retractable leashes), and collars with ID and tags are required for all dogs. Also, dogs must be at least 4-months-old, no females in heat, and no aggressive dogs. All dogs must leave the Square Grouper by  11:30 a.m.  $10 per dog, $10 per owner;  Saturday 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Summer Daze Concert-The "Summer Daze Concert Series" is a Florida (Downtown Lake Worth, Lake Avenue, Lake Worth) summer-themed party that features 45 reggae/rock bands & 12 Djs on 2 stages, a wake skating contest with giant inflatable pools, and a bikini fashion show by local bikini brand "indieSWIM." Touring national acts Authority Zero, Ballyhoo!, Stick Figure, Passafire, The Supervillains and Whole Wheat Bread are some of the highly anticipated bands that will be headlining the festival. An amateur wake skate competition will take place to kick off the Summer Daze Concert Series. Wake skating is a fairly new extreme water sport which is much like wake boarding but the board is not attached to the feet allowing the rider to maneuver the board much like a skateboard.  J Street will be transformed into an obstacle course of giant swimming pools, ramp and a platform for local riders to pull off their biggest tricks for festival attendees. Cash and prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place will be given to top riders chosen by a panel of judges. Sunday; Advance tickets are $10 and the day of show, price will be $15 after  1pm; ` 12 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Summer Spectacular- Families and friends will gather at CityPlace(700 S Rosemary Ave, West Palm Beach) this  Sunday, July 14 as the shopping and entertainment center continues its Family Fun Fest series with a free "Summer Spectacular." Children can enjoy games such as limbo, hula-hooping, hopscotch, jump rope, water balloon tosses and more. To add to the excitement, there will be crafts, bounce houses, a dunk tank and live entertainment. The Summer Spectacular will also feature a cooling station, delicious lemonade and ice pops for a very "chill" day.  Parents and children who show their Free Family Fun Fest sticker at participating businesses will have more reasons to smile with shopping and dining incentives throughout CityPlace.  Free;  Sunday 1 p.m. – 4p.m
