Kayodi Whitley charged with second-degree murder following Lake Worth domestic fight

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A domestic argument turned deadly Sunday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say that just before 11 p.m. Derrick Zanders was returning his daughter to her mother at her home in the 6500 block of Jacques Way.

Deputies say that Zanders broke a window near the front door of the home after he was denied access.

When Zanders returned with the child, the mother's boyfriend, Kayodi Whitley, got into a dispute with him because Whitley claims the child was not brought back at the proper time, according to PBSO.

Investigators say that video captured by a neighbor showed Zanders and Whitley having a verbal argument followed by a physical altercation.

PBSO says that video from the scene shows Whitley holding a knife, lunging at Zanders and then stabbing him.

Zanders, according to deputies, died of injuries after being transported to Delray Medical Center.

Deputies arrested Whitley and charged him with second-degree murder.
