10 are migrants, at least two are suspected smugglers
Ten people are in custody after authorities said a group of illegal migrants came ashore in Palm Beach County.
MANALAPAN, Fla. - Ten migrants and two suspected smugglers are in custody after authorities said the group came ashore early Thursday morning in Palm Beach County.
Officials said they made landfall at 2:12 a.m. near the Boynton Inlet on a 23-foot boat that was registered in the Bahamas.
Five of the migrants are from Colombia, two are from Ecuador and three are from Haiti. They range in age from 20 to 44. Seven are men, three are women.
The suspected smugglers are from the Bahamas but were not identified, according to Customs and Border Protection.
