Burn victim rushed to hospital; found by emergency crews responding to a brush fire

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Emergency crews discovered a burn victim after responding to a brush fire in Central Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said units were called to the 4600 block of South Congress Avenue just after 3 p.m.

After they arrived they found a man in the blaze near the location of a camp for transients.

They say they are assuming the victim was homeless and a fire was set either to heat food or stay warm.

Fire rescue said the man was transported by helicopter as a trauma patient to Delray Medical Center.

He has severe burns to one side of his body.

The fire is out.
