Nearly 70 people wanting to watch the Jodi Arias trial showed up to court hoping to get a seat in the courtroom. Only 11 made it inside.

Members of the public started lining up at 1 a.m. Thursday even though doors to the courthouse did not open until 7:30 a.m.

Up until Thursday, it had been first come first served for those showing up.

However, the judge switched to a lottery system for closing arguments.

RD Williams drove to Phoenix from Amarillo, TX.

"It's 10 hours non-stop, two times to fuel up. I didn't bring no extra gas cans," said Williams.

Williams made the gas can reference in response to the prosecutors claim Arias bought gas cans as part of her plan to kill Travis Alexander in hopes of avoiding a paper trail.

Williams said he made the drive to Arizona after hearing one particular claim from Arias and her defense team.

"Well they brought up PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder] and I'm retired Air Force and that kind of struck me bad – her name in with my guys," said Williams.

Everardo McFarlane lives in Phoenix and was first in line but he did not make it into court.

He said it was disappointing he could not be part of the process he's helping pay for.

"I just hope justice is served and that at least we get our $1.6 million worth with a conviction," said McFarlane.
