Arlington National Cemetery was closed for a short time on Thursday afternoon after a bomb scare.
At about 2:30 p.m., officials said, “a suspicious package” was discovered inside the iconic cemetery, where thousands of American armed forces veterans have been laid to rest.

Arlington National Cemetery was closed to all visitors while the package was investigated. About 40 minutes later, officials with the site said the package was given the “all clear.” At about 3:15 p.m., Arlington National Cemetery officials tweeted that the site would “reopen within the hour.”
