Allen Cone has 45 years of journalism experience, including with WPTV since July 2019. He has been an assignment editor and, most recently, a digital content producer at the station.
Allen previously worked as an assignment editor with WPBF.
The bulk of Allen's journalism experience was in newspapers as a writer, editor and page designer. That includes working in sports departments.
They includes stints for Cox Media Group, which includes the Palm Beach Post, as well as the SunSentinel, Las Vegas Review-Journal, suburban Phoenix Tribune, Macon (Ga.) Telegraph, San Antonio Express News, Houston Post, Virginian Pilot and Daily Herald in suburban Chicago.
Freelance experience includes United Press International and Lakana.
Allen, who is a Chicagoland native, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and work toward a masters degree at the school.
He is married with two children and two grandchildren.
