Deadly crash involving a Tri-Rail train and vehicle shuts down Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach

Lincoln Boulevard reopened around 8 p.m.

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - A deadly crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a vehicle shut down traffic at Linton Boulevard and Congress Avenue in Delray Beach Thursday.

Delray Beach police say 90-year-old Edward Horowitz was eastbound on Linton Boulevard when he drove through the guard gates located at the CSX tracks.

At 10:45 a-m, northbound train P618 struck the car, according to a Tri-Rail spokeswoman.

Horowitz died at the scene.

At least seven Tri-Rail passengers complained of minor injuries and were transported for treatment, fire rescue said.

The other passengers were taken by bus to the next train stop to continue their journey.   

Linton Boulevard was closed between I-95 and Congress Avenue for hours. The road reopened around 8 p.m.
