BOCA RATON, Fla. - Three construction workers were injured Tuesday when the second floor of a home they were working on collapsed, according to Boca Raton Fire Rescue.
Officials said the workers were at the construction site of a new single-family home in the 1100 block of Spanish River Road.
While pouring concrete on the first floor, the scaffolding above collapsed and fell on top of them.
A structural beam made out of wood and filled with concrete and iron fell on the men, according to officials at the scene. The tie beam was estimated to weigh "several thousand pounds."
One of the workers was transported as a trauma alert to Delray Medical Center for his injuries. A second worker was transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, while a third was being treated on scene.
