Florida declared a state of emergency Friday morning, nearly three full days before Tropical Storm Erika is expected to make landfall.
The latest forecast models have Erika remaining a tropical storm and making landfall during the early morning hours on Monday.
As the storm makes its way through the Caribbean, it's expected to run into a lot of wind shear, which is a notorious hurricane killer.
It appears Florida is preparing for the worst, though.
A hurricane hasn't made landfall in the state since Hurricane Wilma did in 2005. They haven't seen a tropical storm since Tropical Storm Andrea crossed the state in June 2013.
