San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves NBA game in Mexico City canceled by smoke

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- The first regular-season NBA game in Mexico since 1997 had to be postponed due to heavy smoke that filtered through the arena.

The San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves were warming up before last night's game when several lights went out and smoke began coming out of vents in the upper deck.

Mexico City Police said in a statement the smoke was caused by a fire in the generator room on the fourth floor of the arena.
