New rules in effect to curtail lionfish population
No bag limits; no license required

The FWC is taking new action to try to curtail the growing lionfish population.
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission just voted to exclude lionfish from fishing bag limits, allowing people to take as many of the invasive species as they can, without a fishing license.
Up until now, they could only take 100 pounds of lionfish.
FWC is hoping divers and fishermen can help keep the number of lionfish in check.
The non-native fish have no natural predators in our waters, and they are having a negative impact on our local marinelife.
