They may not be cute and cuddly, but they have their benefits: BATS!
According to the Florida Fish & wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida is home to 13 species of bats.
The FWC says, they may look like a bird, but with faster-fluttering wings and a more erratic flight pattern. Best of all-- bats have quite an appetite for mosquitoes. In fact, they can eat up to half of their body weight in insects in one night!
Biologists say bats are vital in our natural ecosystems -- protecting us from mosquito-borne illnesses, and saving Florida farmers millions of dollars a year in pest control.
