BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Former NFL wide receiver David Boston has been charged with assaulting a woman in South Florida during a night of drinking.
Boca Raton police say Boston punched Kimberly Gardner twice in the head Wednesday night. Gardner suffered a gash that required stitches.
The 33-year-old Boston is charged with aggravated battery and is free on $3,000 bail. Court records did not show that he had an attorney.
Police say the assault happened at Gardner's house where Boston had been staying and was witnessed by her friend. Authorities say Boston drank bottles of vodka and wine and then asked for a ride to a hotel. The fight happened after the ride was refused.
Boston last played in the NFL for Tampa Bay. He also played for Miami, Arizona and San Diego.
