Errant golf shot by George McNeill strikes spectator Edwin Curtis

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - This year’s Honda Classic will be remembered for all the wrong reasons for one spectator.

A golf ball struck Edwin Curtis on the head while he was  sitting in a chair near the 18th green.

George McNeill hit the errant shot.

Curtis had a visible welt and was taken to be checked out as a precaution.

McNeill spoke with Curtis’s wife and apologized. He signed a golf glove for her, and exchanged phone numbers and addresses.

McNeill shot 3 under par during Friday’s round.
