Boca Raton, Fla. - When President Mary Jane Saunders joined Florida Atlantic University in June of 2010 she inked a five year contract deal with the school.
The Contact 5 Investigators obtained Saunders' 19 page contract which outlines what happens in the case of a resignation.
Even though Saunders resigned two years before the contract ends, a cause states she is allowed to stay on at FAU as a tenured faculty member.
In fact, the contract states for the first three years as a faculty member she'll continue to be paid 80% of the base salary she made as president. While president, she earned a base salary of $345,000 plus up to an additional $50,000 per year in bonuses.
If Saunders continues working at FAU after 2016, her pay will be equivalent to the top three highest paid tenured faculty members at Florida Atlantic University.
While president Saunders also received a university vehicle, received travel reimbursements, and lived at the president's house on the university's campus.
