WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The city of West Palm Beach is making a commitment to sustainable energy.
Friday morning the city unveiled its new public charging stations for electric cars.
Six of them are located in the Clematis Street parking garage.
Drivers can hook up for free.
The city used a grant from the Department of Energy to pay for the stations.
"It's kind of a chicken and the egg type scenario, but you have to have the infrastructure in place if you want to roll out these cars," said Josh Nichols, West Palm Beach Sustainability Program Coordinator
President Obama has said in the past he wants one million electric cars on the roads by 2015.
