Researchers in South Africa couldn't believe it when a great white shark literally jumped into the back of their boat!
The 10-foot long, 11-hundred pound "catch" sent crew members scrambling.
Researchers were chumming in the waters and monitoring the activity of four sharks as part of an ongoing study when the shark decided to get an up close look at the strangers.
The shark became stuck on the boat and the crew began pouring water on its gills to keep it alive.
A fishing boat eventually had to use its crane to lift the shark out.
About a half hour later, researchers found the shark beached on a small area in the harbor.
They used ropes from their boat to tow the great white to deeper water.
Finally... about a half-mile outside the harbor... the shark regained strength and swam away.
