(KSNW) With a severe drought going on and water restrictions being imposed for Ellis, Kansas residents, the public works department has decided to redistribute the water from the pool to any resident who wants it.
"If they have any trees growing or stuff like that, they've been acquiring water from other places so they can do their outside watering. A lot of them have their own tanks for that purpose, so this is just another way for the city to extend some additional water for their usage on the outside landscaping," said Alan Scheureman, Ellis Public Works Director.
Even though the pool water was treated with chemicals, the city hasn't added any for the last week.
It allows the sunlight to break down the chlorine making the water safe for plants and animals.
